Christmas Gift

So what do you think is a good gift for a 2 year old?

I encourage everyone to use the National Green Pages at www.coopamerica.org/pubs/greenpages/ to search for gift items or anything you need to buy, really – just select a category like ‘housewares’, ‘children’, or ‘bedding’ and search (and if you want only businesses in your home state, to limit how far the products have to travel, you can select a state).

Some of the fun businesses that have items for children include www.progressivekid.com (all sorts of items - looks SO fun), lilipadstudio.com (beautiful, colorful kids’ furniture; too expensive, but perhaps would inspire a project?), www.kee-ka.com/HTMNKY.html (the perfect hooded towel for Maci the Monkey) and www.challengeandfun.com (tons of toys and games).

Some of the sites sell Putumayo CDs for kids. I’d just go straight to the source at www.putumayo.com/en/putumayo_kids_cd.php and check out all the titles. I can totally see Maci grooving to a Putumayo CD.

I love to do this kind of research. I hate shopping but I like vicariously shopping through others.

Oh, and if you would rather donate to a charity in honor of someone, charitynavigator.org is a great site to browse and see which charities are out there and make good use of their donations.

If memory serves me right, and most of the time it doesn't, it was more about the packaging than the present. Just being able to open a prettily wrapped box was the fun. So even something as mundane as diapers as long as she gets to open the package. Sorry, Amanda.

I don't disagree - little kids are not going to remember what they got for Christmas, and they usually have too many things anyway. But, some people think they MUST buy brand new things for their kids (not talking about you, Beth), and if they do, I hope they buy responsibly.
